Connie Wright, President
After many years of working in the dental, clothing service, and food service professions, Connie is finally retired and is enjoying life. She is active in her church and enjoys sewing, dancing, cooking, singing, hiking, yard work, and traveling. She has lived in Chaffee County since 1979.
Jen Couture, Secretary
Jen has enjoyed music her whole life, attending concerts and music festivals as often as possible. At one summer Folk Festival in 2019, sheltering from torrential rain, she stepped into an event tent -- right onto the dance floor of an Intro to Contra Dancing. Half and hour later she was hooked! Now her dance feel are always moving -- learning advanced contras, contra squares, English country, waltz, modern western square, and couples dancing. Rocky Mountain Ranch Dance (Stellar) outside Buena Vista, Colorado, was her first dance camp ever. (It was amazing!) Finding it to be such a special event, she joined the local Buena Vista community, and the AVMAD board, and soon championed to relaunch Stellar for 2025. Her new passion is to help keep traditional music and dance alive and thriving, with a goal in her spare time to explore many dances and dance camps from coast to coast, and one day to learn to be a contra caller. She hopes to meet You on the dance floor soon!
Greg Kann, Treasurer
My wife, Pamela Hawkins, and I moved to Buena Vista in 2022 after living and working in the front range for over 40 years. Greg holds a Business Administration degree with over 40 years' experience in accounting and financial management. We both enjoy Contra and Country dancing as well as golf, skiing, pickleball and hiking. Greg also serves as the President of the local Billie Love Chapter 2286 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association. We are active in the Clearview Community Church where Pam is part of the Praise Team. I look forward to serving on the AVMAD Board of directors and attending the upcoming dances and events. I also enjoy assisting Pam, our Contra Band Leader, with setting up and taking down the sound system before and after our events.
Beth Yost
Beth used to square dance before coming to Buena Vista. She now enjoys contra dancing. She keeps busy with church work, helping at Adventure Unlimited part time. hiking, and trail maintenance.
Lee Dodge
Lee has been dancing for quite a while, learning contra, country-western, and waltz while living in Texas. He moved to Salida in 2010, and has been active with AVMAD ever since. In addition to dancing, Lee enjoys kayaking, hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, and astrophotography.
Susan Axe
Originally born and raised in Southern California, Susan moved to Buena Vista, Colorado in 1994. Raising two boys to manhood, working at a Young Life Facility and now as a full-time Dental Assistant has been her endeavor. She was introduced to Contra Dancing 5 years ago and has been a contra enthusiast ever since. Her dance experience includes waltz, country western, ballroom/round waltz and tap. Her 'job' in supporting AVMAD is keeping our Facebook page filled with current dancing & musical opportunities. Hope you'll 'like' our page!
